A quality teacher can make a lasting impact on the life of numerous children throughout the course of a career, and this impact can have a ripple effect across generations. Unfortunately, the education system in the United States is facing a teacher shortage. Fewer individuals are entering teacher preparation programs as the demand for teachers has increased.
To meet these demands, it has become imperative that districts create innovative approaches to recruit, equip, and retain quality educators. In this spirit of innovation, the Cedar Hill ISD Grow Your Own Program was created.
Cedar Hill ISD is proud to offer the Grow Your Own program for paraprofessionals who want to become a teacher. This offers aspiring educators the opportunity to lead a classroom while earning a bachelor's degree and teaching certification.
